The Afterlife

I don't think I have ever been more interested in anything than I have been in the afterlife. I mean, we all know that people die eventually, typically we grow old and then this light comes to get us, telling us we have finished our story. It's scary to think that isn't always the case though, sometimes we lose people before we think their story is over. A few years ago I watched my brother have to deal with losing someone close to him. Lafrance Johnson and his little brother had found a gun at their aunt’s house back in May of 2022. Lafrance Johnson was 12 when his 10-year-old brother accidentally pulled that trigger and unalived Lafrance. Lafrance had star power, he was creative, athletic, hardworking, and overall kind. It's hard to believe that someone so young was taken in such a brutal way, but all I think about is now what happens. When our grandparents die we know they got to live a long life, we know they are going to paradise, facing the consequences of their actions, or going wherever someone believes they may go after death. However, when someone like Lafrance passes, someone so young, all you can think about is how they didn't even get to finish growing up. So where do they go? I'd like to think they'd go to the same place as our grandparents, but I also believe they get to go someplace where they get to finish growing up. Obviously, everyone has their own beliefs as to what happens after death and I think that's why it interests me so much. I think I like to know how other people see it because maybe knowing that will help me when it is my turn to go. We all know that death can take us whenever it thinks we are ready and we can never fully prepare for when that may be. At our moment I like to think that a loved one comes down to take us towards that light, to guide us. I know I've heard stories of it, a person may be on their death bed and they see a passed loved one sitting in a chair telling them it's time to go. I think this brings me comfort in knowing we get to see the ones who are no longer with us. The more I think about it, I think this topic interests me so much because of the comfort it may bring me when it comes to death. Death is hard for anyone, but personally knowing more about it makes me a little less afraid of what is to come of it.
